19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
